Home.......

As the old adage goes, home is where the heart is. Although in that statement home is a metaphor for just about any place you want it to be, including our actual home, I think to each of us it is so much more than just a physical location. So, what is home? Is it a place? Is it an emotion or a feeling? Is it who you’re with? Can it mean different things for different reasons and at different times? I think the answer to all of those is yes.

Home to me is anywhere I feel safe and protected. Home is a place where I can laugh, cry, scream, feel joy or sadness. It’s a place where I can think, be creative, be boring or obnoxious. It can be lonely even if I am not alone, but it can also be festive and joyous when I am. It can be some place where I exist but also be something that I feel. I find it pretty amazing that one word can mean so many different things and stir so many different emotions in each one of us. I think the beauty in the word home is that it's ever changing, just like all of us.

As my move to Mexico draws closer, home will help me find comfort and strength in the unknown, and joy and inspiration from all that has come before. So, no matter what, or who, or why, or where home is for you, I hope it’s always where your heart is.
